Shopify Scripts stops working on June 30, 2026. Before you can plan a migration, you need to know whether you actually use Scripts, and many merchants are not sure, especially if an agency or a past developer set them up. Here is the two-minute check.
Check 1: open the Script Editor
The fastest answer. In your Shopify admin, look for the Script Editor app (Scripts are a Shopify Plus feature, so this only exists on Plus stores). Open it. If you see any active scripts listed, those are exactly what stops working on June 30, 2026. Note what each one does, you will need that list to migrate.
If the Script Editor app is not installed and never was, you almost certainly do not have Scripts.
Check 2: think about your checkout behavior
Scripts power three kinds of behavior. If any of these happen on your store, a Script may be behind it:
- Automatic discounts at checkout that are not regular discount codes, for example "spend $100, save 10%," a free gift in the cart, or a returning-customer reward.
- Shipping rate rules, like hiding express over a weight, renaming a rate, or reordering options.
- Payment method rules, like hiding cash on delivery above a total, or reordering wallets.
If you see these but cannot find a corresponding automatic discount or customization in the admin, a Script is likely doing it.
Check 3: ask whoever built your store
If an agency or freelancer set up your checkout, ask them directly: "Do we use any Shopify Scripts, and what do they do?" It is a one-line question that saves a lot of guessing.
If you find Scripts
You have until June 30, 2026 to move them to Shopify Functions. Start here:

Not sure, or no time?
Send us a screenshot of your Script Editor and we will tell you exactly what needs to move, then migrate it for you before the deadline.
