Shopify Scripts migration
Shopify Scripts stopped on June 30, 2026. We rebuild them as Functions.
If your discounts, shipping rules or payment rules changed after June 30, we rebuild each one as a Shopify Function and test it in a real checkout.
What stopped on June 30, 2026
Scripts did not throw an error when they stopped. The checkout rules they ran went back to Shopify's defaults:
- Discounts. Automatic discounts driven by a Script stopped applying, and customers paid full price.
- Shipping rules. Rates you were hiding or reordering went back to the default set.
- Payment rules. Methods you were hiding or reordering came back in their default order.
Every Script type has a Function replacement.
Discount Scripts
Tiered spend thresholds, returning-customer rewards, automatic discounts, and free gifts move to discount functions.
How it worksShipping Scripts
Hiding, renaming, and reordering shipping rates moves to a delivery customization function.
How it worksPayment Scripts
Hiding, renaming, and reordering payment methods moves to a payment customization function.
How it worksHow a migration runs
Audit your Scripts
Send us your Script Editor list. We document exactly what each Script does and the inputs it reads.
Map and rebuild
We map each Script to the right Function API and rebuild the logic as a Shopify Function, matching the behavior one to one.
Test in a dev store
We verify every rule in a real checkout, including edge cases like empty carts, mixed carts, and logged-out customers.
Deploy and remove Scripts
We roll the Functions to production, confirm they fire, and remove the old Scripts so nothing conflicts.

Frequently asked questions
When did Shopify Scripts stop working?
Shopify Scripts and the Script Editor stopped working on June 30, 2026. Since then, Ruby scripts no longer run at checkout.
What happened to stores that did not migrate?
Their Scripts stopped without an error. Automatic discounts stopped applying, shipping rate rules went back to the defaults, and payment method rules went back too. If your checkout changed in July, this is the likely cause.
Do I need Shopify Plus to use Functions?
No. Scripts were Plus-only, but Shopify Functions are available well beyond Plus. The discount, delivery, and payment functions that replace Scripts work on standard plans too.
How long does a migration take?
It depends on how many Scripts you run and how complex they are. Most stores have one to three Scripts, and we scope the exact timeline from your Script Editor list before we start.
Is it too late to migrate?
No. Send us your old Script Editor list, or describe what used to happen at checkout, and we rebuild each rule as a Function and test it before it goes live.
Have a Shopify project?
Send us the store URL and what you want to change. Dylan reads every message.
